Summer is here and there's no shortage of events, activities, and fun happening at Ponté Palmero! While we always have something new going on year-round, summer is our time to shine. There's something for everyone to enjoy, from weekly activities like bible study, book club, and water aerobics. And who could forget the bigger events like Father's Day celebrations, Fourth of July parties, and Labor Day Bashes? Whoever said retirement would be boring, clearly never spent a summer at Ponté Palmero!
Kicking off the summer activities, we have our bulletin of happenings during June. Every Tuesday afternoon, our residents can enjoy virtual concerts. There have been so many studies that show the benefits of listening to music, and it's a great way to connect with others. We're also introducing beginner ukulele lessons this month! Our residents will have the opportunity to explore a new hobby and potentially pick up a new skill with these fun classes. View the June event calendar here.
On Thursday afternoons in June, our residents will get to try their hand at besting their friends playing Kings in the Corner. Stay tuned to see who will be crowned the King of Cards! Let's not forget our friendly poker matches at Pete's that happen on Wednesday mornings and Saturday afternoons. And for those residents looking to participate in a fun game of cards, we're playing Pinochle every Friday at 2PM. Who needs Vegas when you're at Ponte Palmero?
Of course, summer wouldn't be complete without a dip in the pool. Water aerobics will be taught by our amazing fitness instructor every Friday morning. And for those looking to stay dry, we have multiple chair exercise classes happening throughout the week. From chair yoga on Monday with our special guest Adrienne to weights on Tuesdays & Friday, Ponté Palmero has it all.
On Monday mornings, our friend Pat Brown will be leading our residential bible study. The group will discuss selected parables and then enjoy lunch together afterward. Finally, our residents will have the opportunity to compete with a friendly game of team trivia!
And that’s just the weekly happenings for June! Did we mention that we have some special events this month as well? On the afternoon of June 24, we have two new events. Starting with arts and crafts, our residents will be able to express their creativity and be surrounded by friends. Later that day, our community is in for a treat with a special TED Talk!
With so much going on, let's not forget that Father's Day is this month too! On June 20, Ponté Palmero will be hosting Father's Day on the Putting Green. Residents will be able to celebrate the special day by enjoying a beautiful day on the golf course. This special event takes place Sunday morning at 10AM. Finally, we'll be closing the month of June with a special event benefiting the Alzheimer's Walk. Ponté Palmero will be hosting the Tri-Tip & Crab Feed Fundraiser on Saturday, June 26 from 4-6PM.
